Who’s got rhythm? Wanna shake your maracas and bang your drum? There are samba percussion bands all over the world, and soon there will be one in Swindon!

The Swindon Samba Band is so new it doesn’t even have a proper name yet, but they do have funding and instruments. Now all they need are some members!

Fancy it? Anyone and everyone is invited to join (need to be over 16 years old though!), regardless of whether you are an experienced sambista or have never ever banged a drum before. And if you’re not sure what a samba band is, check out the website at www.swindon-samba.co.uk.

The Swindon Samba Band has just found out that its been awarded £1000 from Swindon Borough Council’s Grass Roots funding which will pay for a samba leader for about 8 weeks who will teach the group everything it needs to know, before going it alone. Swindon Does Arts has also made a donation to the group.
