Making It A.R.T is Fair Play for Enthusiastic Organizations!

"
Friday 12th February sees an unmissable opportunity for any group involving the arts or concerned with people with disabilities that wishes to broaden their horizons, so don’t let the sun set on your membership recruitment, give people with disabilities a chance to shine!

Reach Inclusive Arts, Swindon and Wiltshire’s foremost charity for Arts and Disability, is staging a daytime theatre extravaganza with a show called Making It A.R.T. It will take place on the main stage at The Wyvern Theatre, Swindon. The show takes the theme of inclusion and is produced by pupils with disabilities from Commonweal, Crowdys and Uplands schools, working with professional artists and mentored by members of Partners Theatre Company, Reach’s disabled theatre company.

The show runs from 1 -2.30pm and is a FREE event supported by Swindon Borough Council and National Lottery, Awards for All.

Reach Inclusive Arts is also arranging an opportunities fair in the lower foyer of the Wyvern theatre from 12-3 pm. The purposes of this event are twofold: firstly, to enable young, disabled people who will soon be leaving school, to find out about what is going on in the arts world in order to enhance their career opportunities and leisure time; secondly, for all organizations to network and raise awareness of what they do.

Reach volunteer, Lisa Dainton, herself visually impaired, said, “This is a fantastic opportunity for residents of Swindon to find out about what is going on their doorsteps and for clubs and charities to recruit members and volunteers from a broader spectrum of society.”

The event is open to the public, so, all you culture vultures, wing your way down to the Wyvern on 12th February, you are bound to find something to interest you, which will be a feather in your cap!
