Swindon Central Library is celebrating its first birthday on Tuesday 20th October and has a host of free events on offer throughout the day.

The award winning £10million library houses 77,000 books, 60 free to use computers over 3 floors and is open 82 hours a week, including Sundays.

It has been a hugely successful first year with over 370,000 visits, 350,000 items borrowed and nearly 10,000 new members joined.

Planned events include children’s story times, a writing workshop run by the BBC, library tours, a local library quiz, a talk by local author Mark Sutton and a visit from the Mayor at 2:00pm to cut the birthday cake.
