I am a professional visual artist driven by political and social ideas. I start with a concept, often precipitated by issues of social exclusion and prejudices and then explore suitable media with which to express this, to create awareness through paint (oil on canvass) and installations.
I have experience of numerous residencies with education, teaching art skills with all ages and abilities and spit my time between my own studio work and participatory work.
My participatory work investigating the effects of how our own preconceptions and prejudices influence our views of others, and ourselves and inhibits our personal growth. I have 10 years experience in education with schools and other agencies across the South West and wider.
I have an excellent reputation with challenging young people and my broad art skills and experience help me to engage even the most reluctant participant.
I recently completed a professional development ‘Grant for the Arts’ funded by the Arts Council of England South West and have since been chosen to be part of The Arts Councils Mission 2 Action Learning Set.
At this time I am completing a post grad course at The University of the West of England on the academic theory of my practice.
