Key Clients

Stagecoach Swindon opened its doors more than ten years ago in April 1999. We now welcome over 150 students each week from Swindon and the surrounding villages.

A dedicated team of Principal and teachers enjoy each week working in a stimulating, safe and energetic environment. We encourage creativity, as well as development of skills and this in turn helps the children to grow in confidence. We work on a varied programme over the year to encourage a range of experiences in the performing arts. We invite parents in at the end of every term to see: either a costumed performance; devised or scripted, a Demonstration of Classwork, a Talent Show and every two years many parents join in ‘Parents Do Stagecoach’ raising money for charity. We are developing a programme of professional workshops and visits to Shows.

For those students who are keen for more, we have been providing opportunities at Swindon’s Wyvern Theatre in professional productions. In 2009, 2008 and 2004 our choir performed in Bill Kenwright’s ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’. Through the Stagecoach Agency, some students have had the opportunity to do professional work, notably as the pink number 3, in Cbeebies ‘Numberjacks’. We also have a Performance Troupe and coach students for LAMDA examinations.

Key People

Sheryll Datta
Principal
Sheryll grew up in the stage school environment, as her mother ran a successful stage school in Surrey for ten years. She joined classes at the age of four, later gaining examinations to elementary and gold in Ballet, Tap, Modern dance, and Drama. Since gaining her BA (Hons) in Dance and Art, she has taught Performing Arts at Wiltshire College and coached many children through the LAMDA syllabus. For more than two years Sheryll managed schools for Stagecoach Head Office, before deciding to open her own school in Swindon in April 1999. Ten years later she feels her enthusiasm for helping young people develop still flourishes and she loves working with her team of teachers.
Tamsin Kennard
Singing teacher
Tamsin is a popular teacher who really understands how to engage children in singing, whatever their ability. She graduated from Bath Spa University with a BA (Hons) degree in Performing Arts. She enjoys writing music and plays piano, flute and guitar. Tamsin has performed since she was a child and is currently rehearsing ‘Measure For Measure’. Tamsin has also worked with ‘Dinkies’ drama based workshops, at The Egg Theatre in Bath and teaches Singing at Stagecoach Melksham.
Aidan Crowley

Aidan is able to quickly develop a rapport with his students, whether age 6 or 16, he inspires and motivates them to learn. He trained for 3 years at Mountview Academy in Acting and Musical Theatre. Further training includes, Shakespeare at RADA, National Youth Theatre and one year part-time MA in Shakespeare at Royal Holloway University of London, which he had to leave early due to a theatre tour of ‘Doctor Dolittle’ for producer Bill Kenwright. Aidan joins us from a year teaching at Stagecoach Wincester, since re-locating to the area.
Sadie Boys-Stones
Dance Teacher
Sadie joined our school in its second term in September 1999. Her great energy and ability to mix hard work and fun has made her a key teacher. Her classes are funky and she enjoys both current and Musical Theatre choreography. She began her dance training at Swindon Dance. She gained ISTD examinations to elementary in Modern, Ballet and Tap dance and has performed at many theatres around the country. Sadie also runs her own dance school in Lyneham.

10 year celebrations!

On Saturday 28th February our students recorded songs, which were burned onto a CD to celebrate 10 years of Stagecoach in Swindon. The CD has been produced by David Seaton Music & Associates, together with the Bees' Knees Record Label and included taking the older students into the recording studio. Each student was given a copy of the CD as part of our 10 year celebrations and it is available to purchase from our school. The 10 year celebrations included a 'Mamma Mia' workshop for students. A cast member from The West End Show and a Musical Director lead students on an exciting adventure through the hit Musical! This was followed by a lunchtime party for students past and present and their families.
